Synopsis

Directed and hosted by Brighton’s Andrew Kay, a renowned food writer, theatre critic and international jet-setter, International Chef Exchange (ICEx) takes two chefs out of their kitchens and has them swap countries and restaurants for two amazing gastronomic challenges and food lover experiences. Our ICEx chefs explore the massive rise in gastro-tourism in a series that takes the viewer from the UK all across Europe.

Over the course of the two events, where the chefs swap kitchens, the chefs work together, sharing their ideas, expertise, and passions in their home kitchens. In each episode, the local chef also takes the guest chef to meet local food and drink producers and to discover what makes each region individually a great gastronomic experience.

On the tour of the local community the chefs meet brewers, distillers, bakers and farmers who share in the passion for great food and great cooking. In Maastricht our viewers are introduced to wagyu beef, exotic vegetables, and fine wines. In Rotterdam a city farm and a tiny artisan gin distillery. In Den Haag, the show experiences beautiful fish, cured herrings and flaming cocktails, while in Sweden Andrew and the cameras visit an exquisite vegetable garden tended by an English Gardener and a rhubarb farm. In Guernsey our viewers will see apple orchards and cider making. In Sicily the team takes part in the Acireale Nivarata, a celebration of granita and gelato, while also our chefs explore the foods to be found on the slopes of mount Etna. Back in Sussex the show reveals the splendor of cheese making, sparkling wine vineyards, fisheries, orchards, chocolate producers and great ice-cream. All along the way, the team will dine in great restaurants from grand to rustic, fine food to fast food! It is a gastronomic tour of Europe, and International Chef Exchange will have its viewers drooling with the great foods and the new methods of gourmet presentation that will leave the audience wanting more.
