In her first term at an Ivy League drama school, sweet and naive freshman Ella finds herself in a battle with a popular upperclassman, Maxine, to win the title role of Miss Julie, one of the most fierce and flawed female characters in theater history. Ella's GLEE experience quickly becomes MEAN GIRLS as Maxine does whatever it takes to win the role. When Ella fights back, both girls find they will stop at nothing to deliver the most “authentic” version of the show and themselves. As internal and external pressure mounts, the actors begin to parallel the reckless choices of their characters, to the point where the line that separates performer and character becomes dangerously absent.
