"In the Weeds" is a magical realism dramedy about Larry, a struggling father played by Doug E. Doug, ("Cool Runnings") searching for his free-spirited daughter Shaunte amid the pandemic. Larry, whose business has failed, journeys through NYC to find Shaunte, who has found love with K, a London transplant who is afraid to leave his apartment. When Shaunte goes missing, K ventures out, and together they search for her, aided by quirky brujos. Their journey, reminiscent of "Half Baked," leads them to self-discovery and love. Shot in Harlem during the pandemic, the film captures hope and community healing, highlighting the universal quest for love.
